NEW SONG!

You may need to pick up the SECRET SESSIONS album featuring covers of Rheostatics songs. We do "Loving Arms", and we think it turned out A-okay. You can pick it up here at zunior.com

For GOLDEN SEALS MP3s you can either visit our myspace site by clicking here, or you can visit our page at New Music Canada by clicking here. It's all free (and doctor-recommended).

Send me an email and I will put you on the Seals mailing list for show updates, almost-funny apocryphal tales, and some pretty bad stock market tips.

STILL NOTHING NEW, REALLY...

Although I appear on a few songs on Dave Bidini's soon-to-be-released record, The Land is Wild, all Golden Seals plans are on hold in light of a dropped external hard drive and the resultant loss of all recordings done over the past five years or so. New album may be gone. If so, we'll record it again, with a November 2026 release. In the meantime, please buy 40,000 copies of our past releases.

MAY 8/07.

NOTHING NEW

Just thought we'd let you know that we have nothing new to report. A new record is almost finished, and we expect it to be huge. Please stay tuned.

DON'T SHELAGH...DON'T SHE TURN 40!?

I kid our good friend Shelagh Corbett via 54-40 lyrics because, well, we love her, and because she turns 40 this Thursday. For her big day, all she wanted was for her pals The Golden Seals to play some music for her (okay, she wanted something way better than that, but we were cheap), so we'll be doing just that this Friday night at Irene's Pub on ol' Bank Street here in Otteewa. Come on out and buy the lovely Ms. Corbett a drinky, and tell her how young she looks--not because you feel you need to, but because it's true. And ask her about her pelvis and her stint as Patty Hearst.

SEALS & GOLDEN DOGS AT MAVERICKS, SEPTEMBER 13

Finally, an evening of pure Golden gold, and Daving Davism as Dave Azzolini's Golden Dogs outfit comes to town to play and sing songs of rock and rock (and roll). We'll join them at Mavericks on Rideau Street, and you should come, even though it's a school night. Cover is less than a bad haircut, and it could change your life (so could a bad haircut, really).

SEALS TO PLAY ON CBC'S GO

Here's one for the scrapbook--my radio hero Brent Bambury returns to town with his hip national show in tow, and we're lucky enough to be a part of it. She's all happening in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, and whilst there, we'll do what we can to get someone to fix the Bronson on/off ramp debacle. Tune in to 91.5 FM in Ottawa (who knows what everywhere else--your local Radio One frequency) at 10 am to hear the hijinks.

FEBRUARY 16 /06...HAPPY 40TH TO LOU FABS!

SEALS PLAY BENEFIT FOR DARFUR, SATURDAY MARCH 4

Hi folks--sorry for the hibernation. Just a quick note to let you know that, at the behest of some swell law students at U of O, we'll be playing Babylon Nightclub in Ottawa on March 4, as part of a benefit for intervention in Darfur. Swell cause, new Seals line up, brand new underpants for the gig. Come on out.

NOVEMBER 11/05 It's why I wear the poppy...

SEALS AT IRENE'S PUB (OTTAWA), SATURDAY NOVEMBER 12

DON'T FORGET (that is not a Remembrance Day joke)--this Saturday the Seals will play their last show for some time at Irene's Pub in Ottawa. The Seals set will start at 11:03 pm, following a set by Ottawa's fantastic Soft Disaster, and preceding a set by The Soiree. Plenty of door prizes for everyone.

NOVEMBER 4/05

GOOD NIGHT, IRENE'S

Hey folks. Sorry for the late notice, but we'll be playing a show next Saturday, November 12 at Irene's Pub in the ol' Glebe with some very special friends, yet to be made. The Seals that night will likely be a twosome, with the extraodinarily polite Phil Bova on drums. I'll give you more details next week. Until then, carry on...

OCTOBER 18/05

CBC YOU THIS WEEKEND
If you'd like to hear me say a few idiotic things and sing somewhat out of tune for an hour, tune in to Fuse on Radio One at 9 pm this Saturday, October 22nd. I share the hour with Dave and Jessica from the Golden Dogs, during which I play upwards of four songs and then sing some questionable harmonies on a Beatles cover handled by those two. Paranoia aside, I hope you like it.

SEPTEMBER 28/05

NEW SEAL ARRIVES--BEST ONE YET
At 7 am on August 27, Jack Elliott Merritt made his first appearance, knockin' 'em dead at the Montfort Hospital in Ottawa. The newest addition to the Seals' lineup came in at 7 pounds, 10 ounces, and is already proving to be a monster vocalist. He is also a strong sleepist, and is by far the best looking member of the group (or tied with his mom, anyway).

YOU FUSE, YOU LOSE
By now, everyone has figured out that the FUSE broadcast has been deep sixed by the ol' CBC lockout. Obviously, the CBC brass has conspired to bring your pals the Golden Seals to our knees, but we've got other plans...somewhere...i just had them here...

OCTOBER FOOLS...
Sadly, the October 1st show at Irene's Pub in Ottawa has been postponed, as certain members of the Seals and Alex Mortimer bands have double-booked their own arses. So...we'll do her again very soon.

BUT, we will be playing the Song Bird 25th Anniversary Party at Babylon Nightclub on October 22nd. It'll be a short set, but until you show us that you deserve more, that's all you get.

Adios for now...

DM

AUGUST 5/05

GOLDEN SEALS ON CBC'S FUSE, AUGUST 28
Howdy y'all. The Fuse taping I did with Dave and Jessica from the fabulous Golden Dogs will air on Sunday, August 28 (11am on Radio 1; 1pm on Radio 2). Thanks to Amanda Putz, the lovely Bill Stunt, Caitlin Crockard and the whole damned CBC crew for being so bloody nice and pro that day (and every day). Unless they didn't make me sound better than I actually played, in which case I'll be furious. But listen anyway. And send me $5.

IN OTHER NEWS...
Thanks to BLACK BOOT TRIO and THE JOHN HENRYS for a riot of a show a few weeks back. Paul Hogan made us all sound like champs in the dangerously-crowded Babylon Nightclub. That's how I remember it, anyway. Thanks to Andrew Carver for taking photos and for being a huge supporter of the indie rock in Ottawa. It was also swell meeting up with--by accident, no less--a couple of Adam West fans (my old band, not my old tv hero) that night. Thanks to Richard and Dave for the scotch and the jocularity. Email me so I can start my cooking lessons.

AND FINALLY...
The newest Golden Seal creation has not yet come into this world, but is set to do so on August 18. Christine Cox is in post-production right now, and the release party could be any day, really. We'll let you know...

Adios for now.
